We were drawing the Taegeukgi

When they were dreaming of a great Japanese empire,

We were dreaming of independence

When they gather in groups of two or three and cause trouble,

We were all united in our hearts and desperately wanted independence.

When they fight with guns and knives,

We fought holding the Taegeukgi.

When they rush in with weapons,

We held on only with one earnest heart.

To satisfy their greed

We were sacrificed

We were shaken for a very brief moment.

I paused for a moment

I sat down for a moment

But we suffered for too long.

I was sick for too long

I struggled for too long.

I've been crying for too long.

I've missed you for so long

Now is the time for the future us to reach out.

It's time for us to rise up.

It's time to say thank you for holding on.

It's time to pat yourself on the back for your hard work.

We will stand up and defend what we have failed to defend in the past.

The dreams and sparkling eyes of children who should have been free to fly and be in the sky
