Special Investigation Team BTS 2
EP 04. Mysterious Terror (2)

Because it was an incident that almost resulted in the death of one person, the inauguration ceremony of the National Assembly member was immediately canceled, and the National Assembly member summoned a dedicated security team and special investigation team to his office to hear the details of the situation.

Although the special investigation team frowned at the sight of the bell ringing, they quietly followed the congressman because even from their perspective, this case could have easily escalated into a murder case.

Everyone gathered in the congressman's office, and it felt a little cramped. The congressman didn't even ask anyone to sit down, even though there were empty seats. It really showed his character.

"You dare ruin my inauguration?!?!!!! What kind of bastard are you!!!!!"

김석진
"We couldn't catch him because he ran away midway. Fortunately, the male victim wasn't seriously injured and was immediately transported to the hospital."

"Did I just ask that?! How are you going to compensate for my inauguration?! Do you know how much it cost to gather all those people?!?! It was a whopping 1.5 billion, 1.5 billion!!!"

김남준
"...I apologize for interrupting, sir. One of our team members is injured. Is it okay if we take them to the hospital?"

"If you're sorry, don't say anything!!! Why are you saying anything when you know you're sorry?! I told you not to keep talking nonsense!!!"

puck-

The roll of toilet paper the congressman was holding flew far away, hitting Namjoon in the chest and falling to the floor. The entire special investigation team's faces hardened at the apparent rudeness. Yeoju, who had been watching silently from the side, finally took action.

연여주
"Oh my gosh! I'm dying, I'm dying."

"What are you doing? Aren't you going to get up right now?! Are you just going to sit down anywhere?!?!"

연여주
"No, there are so many seats, so what if I just sit down on one? Is the world going to end? Huh? Really? Is that so?"

"Hey, this!!! Where are you talking informally to me!!!! Don't you know who I am?!? Huh? I'm talking!!! Gyeonggi-do,"

연여주
"Oh. I know, I know. I know everything, so you don't have to introduce yourself–."

The female protagonist, who had plopped down on the nearest chair, twirled her hair with her fingers and spoke calmly. Her childish way of speaking, occasionally elongating her sentences, not only angered the congressman but also startled her teammates.

Some of them burst into laughter at the heroine's attitude. I couldn't tell if it was the special investigation team or the dedicated security team, but I could hear laughter erupting from somewhere.

"What are you!! Do you want to get fired right now?!?! I specifically told you to show your face to the higher-ups... If you're going to act like this, then get out now!!!"

연여주
"Oh really? Can I go out? Then how about taking our entire special investigation unit out with One Plus Seven?"

"Huh, really. You really want to get fired? Where are you from!!!"

연여주
"Where do you belong!!!!"

bang-!!!

연여주
"I belong to the special investigation unit."

He wiped the smile from his face and looked the congressman straight in the eye. The drinks on the table fell from the impact, but no one paid any attention.

The heroine took out a name tag with her name and phone number from her pocket, threw it on the table, and tapped Jimin's shoulder, who was closest to her.

연여주
"Aren't you going out?"

박지민
"Really... Again."

When the female lead asked, "Aren't you going out?" with a nonchalant expression as if she had just swept up the atmosphere, Jimin let out a hollow laugh. The other team members seemed to be feeling the same way, shaking their heads.

김석진
"If we find the culprit, we'll contact you again. For now, we're busy."

Seokjin bowed politely yet firmly and left the office. After Seokjin left first, the other team members bowed in greeting and left the office one after another. Finally, Yeoju, the only remaining member of the special investigation team, approached the stunned congressman and whispered softly.

연여주
"Watch your actions. You don't want that handsome face to end up on the front page of the newspaper."

"Well then, thank you for your hard work." The woman's smile was wicked as she gently patted the congressman's shoulder and left the office.

As the last female protagonist, waiting on the first floor, waited, a pitch-black car stopped in front of her. She stood there blankly, tilting her head. Only then did the car door open, revealing the familiar faces she'd seen just moments before.

김남준
"What are you doing? Aren't you going?"

연여주
“Oh, I thought you were leaving me behind.”

At Namjoon's playful remark, Yeoju wrinkled her nose and quickly climbed into the car. The car's interior was as black as its exterior, which suited her taste perfectly.

연여주
"Oh, but whose car is this? I doubt the government would be generous enough to provide the police with such a large car."

"Wow, whoa… whose car is this? We only provided one police car."

김석진
“……It’s mine. The government provided me with a car, but it was too small, so I just bought a new one.”

연여주
"Really? Wow, this is so good."

Seokjin clenched his fists tightly around the steering wheel. Even though he knew it wasn't true, Yeon Yeo-ju's words kept overlapping with Kim Yeo-ju's.

The memories that had just passed by were only those of Kim Yeo-ju and Seok-jin, so the other team members were calm, and only Seok-jin was able to somehow prevent himself from biting his lips and sinking into sadness.

박지민
"What the hell are you thinking, showing off to a member of the National Assembly?"

연여주
"Do you really have to have some kind of thought to be able to speak out? They were the ones who broke it first. Do you think you have any position? After all, in front of a gun, we're all just worthless lives."

박지민
"You crazy bastard, you can't always point a gun at me. You're really crazy. Did you really do that without thinking?"

연여주
"Do you think I would really do that without thinking?"

Yeoju lightly ignored Jimin, who was twirling his finger beside his ear and calling her crazy. She pulled out the pen from her jacket pocket and pressed a button. At the same time, someone's voice was heard. It was Yeoju and the National Assembly member.

— Oh my! I'm dying, I'm dying.

— What the hell, you? Aren't you going to get up right now?! Are you just going to sit here anywhere?!?!

— No, there are so many seats, so what if I just sit down on one? Is the world going to end? Huh? Really? Is that so?

— Hey, this!!! Where are you talking informally to me!!!! Don't you know who I am?!? Huh? I'm talking!!! Gyeonggi-do,

— Oh. I know, I know. I know everything, so you can stop introducing yourself.

전정국
“Crazy…. What is this, what is this…?”

박지민
"You couldn't possibly be..."

연여주
"Yeah. Did you record everything?"

Squeak–

At the mere mention of "recording," the car slammed on its brakes and came to a halt. And whether in front, behind, or to the side, the team members who heard the woman's words all screamed in unison.

"Hey, you idiot!!!!!!!!"

연여주
"……?"

The female protagonist, who did not know English, was holding the recorder pen tightly in her hand and just blinking her eyes.

Back at the police station, Yeo-ju was held captive by seven men, sitting motionless on her knees with her hands tied. Tae-hyung and Yoon-ki, who hadn't been kind to her, stood there with their arms linked, and she spoke.

정호석
"Ms. Yeon Yeo-ju, you shouldn't be walking around with a recorder on unless there's a special situation. Furthermore, if we, as police officers, were to carry it around with us and drop it on the street, what would the person who picked it up think?"

연여주
“Uh… Is this evidence?”

김남준
"So, let's say a citizen, thinking it was evidence, listens to the recording without thinking. What happens if they find out that the voice in it is a member of the National Assembly?"

연여주
“The country is ruined… you must be thinking, right?”

전정국
"Yeah, the citizen who thought the country was ruined... isn't that right!!! No, what the hell are you!!!"

The seven people surrounding the heroine seemed angry and spoke passionately as they explained to the heroine, but the heroine, who was sitting in the middle of them, did not understand them and was dumbfounded.

It's a basic way of life to always carry a recorder, anesthesia needles, a gun, and a jackknife. What's wrong with that? But in South Korea, where gun ownership is illegal, and especially to the police, it's even more frustrating to be unable to speak frankly about this.

And isn't it true that the country is in ruins? Just two years ago, Yeoju had been carrying out a murder mission commissioned by the Prime Minister. To Yeoju, who knew the dark side better than anyone, even if she didn't know the bright side, the idea that the country was in ruins was a given.

김태형
"Other things."

연여주
"what."

김태형
"Is there anything else we have secretly kept?"

"I thought it was a ghost." Yeo-ju shrugged, looking straight into Tae-hyung's persistent eyes. She was better at acting than anyone else.

연여주
"What could it be? That was a gift from the chief. To congratulate me on joining the special investigation unit?"

Lies flowed freely without even a hint of spit on my lips. I remembered the jackknives strapped to my thighs, waist, and ankles, but I couldn't let it show. Especially not to these people.

김석진
"Yeah, well… since it's your first time, you might not have known. Yeah, that could be true. But, Ms. Yeon Yeo-ju."

Seokjin rolled the pen in his hand. He gripped it lightly between his index and middle fingers, then pressed his thumb firmly against it. With a snap, the pen shattered.

"Next time, I won't tolerate mistakes like this one."

"If you're in the special investigation unit, act like one."
