Kai was an orphan. He was days old when he was left behind, outside of one luteran church in the Neatherlands.
Kai was different, his tanned skin really made him impossible to blend with the other kids, but fortunately his charisma helped him to made lots of friends effortlessly.
Everyone knew who Kai was. So when he disappeared everyone noticed.
Years passed and Kai was living only in the fragmented memories of Wendy, one of his childhood friends. The now old lady lived in remorse since she was the last kid to have a conversation with Kai.
Kai was a “founder”, if you have lost something you went to Kai and after minutes Kai will return with your lost item. But if the item wasn’t yours the founder will be redirected to it’s original owner.
The item that little Wendy was searching was her earring, it was the only item she had when she was abandoned, she really took care of it but an earring is always so easy to be lost. Kai forgot to ask if the earring was hers.
The old man told him to ask before of a request if the item belonged to the person, but Kai forgot completely.
The earring was owned by the grandmother of Wendy. Wendy’s mother stole the earrings when she ran away from home.
Kai returned the earring to Wendy’s grandmother as the white string was attached to her. The adult knew about “founders” so she told Kai that he was in trouble but she had a solution. In that moment the lady gifted her granddaughter the earring and Kai could return to Wendy, but not in the same time he left.
Wendy was adopted few months later of Kai’s not found situation. Her own grandmother told Wendy to wait till Kai found her again.
The Orphanage was closed years later and then was converted to a retirement home. Wendy’s grandmother was filthy rich so, when Wendy reached adulthood bought the building of the Orphanage.
Everyday that passed was a hopeless day for Wendy to redeem herself.
It was the first snow of 2020 and Kai finally found Wendy, he was scarred, not many minutes passed but he watched the entire world changing before his eyes. Every step he made and the world kept changing.
Wendy was really old now, Kai was still the 8 year old kid. With a trembling hand Kai handed Wendy her earring.
Kai was crying hard. He knew he messed up. The old man appeared again. Wendy was shooked the man was teleporting his way to them, his face was wrinkled, his blue eyes had deeper eye-bags attached.
The old man clapped loudly and warned little Kai to never accept again a request before asking of the true owner of the things he is going to search. Or he could run out of luck and be a “Lost”
