But soon after, I heard the news of the death of my father, who was no longer with me but had been my spiritual pillar. And so, our family's happiness was taken away by the Japanese and North Korean forces.
No older sister, no mother, no father.
Now, I had no one to rely on but myself. I had left my lover in the North during the war, and had hurriedly come South with my family.
I walked to Busan with the determination to survive. No, I tried to do that.
The forest where I was hiding with my mother was in Gangwon-do, and Busan was so far away that I was killed by the North Korean army on the way there.
