EP.01 The Story of the Bear - 01

From a young age, I never felt like I was living in wealth. I always felt like something was missing, something was lacking.

And there was no sign of that lacking or insufficient part ever being filled.

My parents were always out trying to make money somehow, and I lived in a dark, one-room basement room, eating with the 5,000 won my mother had left behind.

Because I knew that my family was poor, I often went hungry.

As I grew older and grew older, I realized that my family was not just poor, but desperately poor.

I hated this family situation so much. No matter how much money we made, we always ended up in debt. Sometimes, the people who collected our money would come to our house and threaten us.

And on the days when people came, I was always plagued by nightmares. It was a nightmare where I was beaten to death by these people.

As soon as I entered high school, I started working part-time as if it were natural, and I always fell asleep when I went to school.

As a result, my grades naturally dropped and I naturally failed to get into college.

I had no money or intention of going to college, but a part of me felt a pang of unease. But I had to keep this feeling to myself. If my parents found out, it would be a disaster.

As usual, I was lying down and resting my tired body after finishing my part-time job.

The quiet door had been quiet when I heard the whispers of men, followed by a knock. I instantly knew: the people outside were there to collect my money.

But I remember paying everything that was due this month. And even though it hadn't been that long, there was no reason for these people to come to our house.

I cautiously approached the front door and peered through the small peephole. Sure enough, the people outside were gangsters, apparently out to collect money.

I was crouching down and pretending there was no one home when I heard a dull knock on the door.

'thud'

'thud'

'thud'

I heard it three times. And then I heard a familiar voice.

"Oww~ I know you're home now~ You should be home from work by now, right? Let's just take it easy."

I flinched for a moment. These people... Come to think of it, they always came whenever one of us was home. I should have noticed them then...!

I had no choice but to carefully open the door.

As soon as I opened the door, I couldn't breathe properly because of the feeling of being hit by a huge noise.

When I was held captive without being able to put up any resistance, the force holding my neck weakened for a moment, and I was barely able to spit out a word.

전웅
What on earth...is this your purpose?

전웅
I...I gave you money before!

"Money? Oh, that? What kind of money is that?"

"Wow, if you give me that little bit of money every month, will the amount I have to pay back be reduced?"

"And... what are you going to do with that much money you earned on your own?"

전웅
A...what is that...

"Your parents are dead."

전웅
What did you say?

"Your parents! The parents who gave birth to you like this! They died. Today."

Is this what it feels like when the world is falling apart? Just a few days ago, my parents were greeting me with a message of encouragement and encouragement when I came home.

They were a shelter and support for me, who was still unfamiliar with the ways of society... No matter how difficult life was, I lived diligently with the support and encouragement of my parents.

Everything felt meaningless. The debt I had accumulated seemed like a mountain too high for me to handle alone, and I was still too young to climb it alone.

After a while of feeling empty and just laughing in vain, I thought.

I thought that I should live quietly since I couldn't pay back the money anyway, and that I should get out of here right now.

And as soon as my thoughts came to me, I ran out the door.
