Chapter 1: The beginning I didn't see coming
From TN's perspective
I never thought a simple email could make my hands tremble. I reread it at least five times, as if at any moment the words might vanish or change shape, revealing that it was all an elaborate joke concocted by my exhausted brain.
But no, it was still there. Real. Formal. With my name written at the top and the Big Hit Music logo at the top, as if that were the most normal thing in the world.
“You have been selected for the position of Official Translator… specifically assigned to the solo activities of the artist SUGA (Min Yoongi).”
The phrase had been swirling in my mind since that morning, buried among notifications for clothing deals and alerts for cheap flights I never take. I'd applied without much expectation, convinced that hundreds—if not thousands—of more qualified people would have done the same. But there I was. Me. Chosen.
I tried to calm down. To breathe. To be rational. But there was a part of me that kept throbbing, a mixture of nerves, excitement, fear, and something like vertigo.
From now on, my life would no longer follow its usual course. No more online classes, no more quiet cafes on the same old corner, no more studying impossible conjugations until the early hours. This was something else entirely.
I got up from my desk, unable to sit any longer, and walked to the window of my small apartment. Outside, the world went on as if nothing had happened: cars, clouds, a dog barking at nothing. But inside, everything was different.
I had to prepare myself. Mentally, emotionally, linguistically… Everything. I didn't know exactly what to expect or what the day would be like when I finally met him. The artist. The idol. My future colleague. And yet, there was a strange calm beneath the chaos. As if, deep down, I had been waiting for him for a long time.
Because sometimes, what we long for most finds us at the most unexpected moment.
And this… was just the beginning.
