365 days between you and me

April 16, 2014 Sewol Ferry Disaster Memorial Message

Today's clear and clean sky, the arrival of spring.

It was probably the same then as it is now.

It would have been an ordinary day like any other.

No, maybe April 16, 2014

It must have been a fun day to go on a school trip to create unforgettable memories before becoming an adult.

But that joy didn't last long.

The second-year students of Danwon High School, who boarded the Sewol ferry, a ship full of idiots with idiot crew and idiot captains, were gradually leaving us.

We breathed a sigh of relief at the news that everyone had been rescued safely.

Behind our country's leader who was diligently taking care of himself

They will never open their eyes again, in excruciating pain, perhaps unable to breathe.

From that suffering

Leaving behind the last words of those who loved each other

It just disappeared like that

Perhaps the eternal separation from loved ones was more frightening than the chilling cold of the sea.

A few words or a few sentences like this won't be enough to comfort that pain.

Still, I'm really sorry that all I can do is scribble down a few words like this.

Words that I will never forget.

Instead of that one word

As if you were always with us, no matter where you are in this world,

Loving those who loved you

So that they don't feel your absence anymore

I will live like that and keep you in my heart like that.

Please, somewhere

Always smile
