Once Upon A Blue Moon
Start

Narrator
A cold breeze blew messing Kens hair. He didn't even mind fixing it he's busy watching his Lolo.

Narrator
Ken is sitting on a rock beside a well just a meter or two away from him.

Narrator
He was busy sweeping the dried leaves from the Mango tree not far from where he was standing.

Ken
Lolo, aren't you tired taking care of this farm?

Narrator
He asked. His left hand is on his chin while the other one is holding his favorite Hat.

Felipe
What do you mean?

Narrator
His Lolo stopped what his doing and stared at his grandson.

Narrator
Ken sighed before walking towards his Lolo.

Ken
You need to rest now Lolo and besides I can do all of these!

Felipe
You can't even go near the cows.

Ken
Except that! But I can do it all. You taught me everything I should do to take care of this farm.

Narrator
Felipe looked at his grandson because of what he said before he sighed.

Narrator
Ever since Ken is young, he likes to help his Lolo with his work in the farm.

Narrator
Felipe noticed too that he's very fond of chickens.

Felipe
Ken, are you really sure that this is what you want?

Felipe
Your Tita Cara called yesterday, her offer on taking you to America is still good.

Ken
Lolo.. I already told you, I don't want to stay all day in front of a computer. I want to take care of chickens!

Narrator
Ken said before taking the broom from his Lolo and finished the sweeping.

Narrator
He's declining that offer for over a year now. He don't want to leave this country or leave his Lolo.

Narrator
After his father died and his Uncle migrated to America, he's the only one who can take the farm.

Narrator
Taking care of the farm became the legacy of their family and he don't want that to stop.

Ken
And I'm fine here in the farm, Lolo. I'm happy taking care of chickens and goats.

Felipe
And cows.

Ken
yeah, cows.

Narrator
He said soulless. He don't like cows since they are huge and they always wanted to eat.

Felipe
I know you still want to be an Architect, Ken. Why don't you continue your study.

Felipe
You will become a great architect just like your father.

Narrator
Ken finished sweeping before looking back to his grandfather.

Ken
I can still continue my studies after a year or two. For now, I want to take care of you and Lola and this huge farm.

Ken
So, stop working and rest. The doctor advised that and Lola told me she don't know what to do with you anymore.

Ken
She said you're so hardheaded.

Narrator
They both laughed because Ken's words.

Narrator
Felipe put his right arm on Ken's shoulder and they left the place.

Narrator
Felipe is talking about how tall Ken is now. He said he remember Ken being a size of a chicken when he first came in the farm.

Ken
Chicken...

Narrator
Ken said with a sulking voice then laugh afterwards.

Bernardo
Felipe!

Narrator
The two stopped laughing and turn around. They saw Don Bernardo, the owner of this farm.

Felipe
Don Bernardo!

Narrator
Felipe called back as a respect. Ken smiled at him which made the old man smile.

Bernardo
Is he the little boy who love my Chickens?

Felipe
Yes, Don Bernardo. This is my grandson, Ken.

Narrator
Ken mentally rolled his eyes because of what they said. They really think of him as a little boy who's the same sized as a chicken.

Narrator
He's the tallest in their group of friends back in the days that's why he can't accept that they called him small.

Ken
Good afternoon, Don Bernardo.

Narrator
He greeted then smile again. Don Bernardo nodded.

Bernardo
I heard you're the next one to take care of my farm.

Ken
Ha? I am.

Narrator
Ken said, he's not really sure if he wanted to take care of this farm. He do wanted but he also want to finish his architectural course.

Narrator
If he will study, who's gonna take care of the farm? Sollano family trust them that's why he don't want to stop the legacy.

Narrator
And Don Bernardo helped them. He paid for his Lolos hospital fee when he had a heart attack three months ago.

Narrator
He wanted to pay by taking care of his farm.

Bernardo
That's good! As expected with a Suson.

Narrator
Ken smiled and glanced at his Lolo who's looking at him.

Felipe
Don Bernardo, do you need something? Chicken eggs? Milk?

Narrator
Felipe changed the topic and there Don Bernardo remember why he came here.

Bernardo
Ah, no. I'm here to inform you that my granddaughter is coming home tomorrow.

Bernardo
There will be a party and I want you and your family to come.

Narrator
Felipe is not shock because of what he said. Don Bernardo and Felipe were friends since they were still teens.

Narrator
After Felipe took the farm, he met Bernardo who just came back from America and that's when their friendship started.

Felipe
You won't let us go if we said no.

Narrator
Don Bernardo laugh because of what Felipe said. He sure know him well.

Bernardo
You know me well.

Felipe
We will come.

Narrator
Don Bernardo smiled because of Felipes answer. He excused him self then left the two.

Narrator
Ken quickly faced his Lolo.

Ken
Don Bernardo has a granddaughter?

Narrator
He asked curiously. Felipe stared at him with 'you're unbelievable' look.

Felipe
You want to take care of this farm yet you don't know your future boss.

Narrator
Felipe shake his head out of disappointment then left Ken dumbfounded.
